Altona Lacrosse Club – Junior Grade Changes 2022

Lacrosse Victoria have recently announced changes to Junior grades so we want to take some time to update you and outline what it means for you.

WHAT ARE THE CHANGES
In 2022 there will be Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 (instead of U11, U13, U15 & U17) with the age taken as of 1 May 2022 (i.e. if your child is under 12 year of age at 1 May 2022 they are eligible to play in Under 12’s). For the most part this means that the teams largely stay the same, e.g. U13 kids from last season will simply move up to U14’s). The biggest change is having an U10’s and U12’s instead of Under 11’s.  Lacrosse Victoria hasn’t completely finalised the new rules but we expect to get them in a few weeks. Please note that these are all under a trial from LV and nothing is set in stone.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR MY CHILD
We understand that some parents may have concerns about this change so we want to re-assure everyone that our priority (and LV’s for that matter) is to keep friends together !!!.  The Altona committee have spent considerable time reviewing possible team lists with consideration of friendship groups, player capability and age to ensure we provide the best experience for everyone.  This means we intend on submitting some permits to LV to enable kids to move up or down a division and play with their friends and we will contact impacted parents directly to discuss.  In the interim if you have specific concerns or want more information please do not hesitate to contact either Susie Struhs 0409 048 813, James Bleed 0413 554 776 or your Team Manager.
