Nick Burgess and Campbell Mackinnon announced by Lacrosse Victoria as part of the 2019 Senior Men’s Team

Nick Burgess and Campbell Mackinnon – announced by lacrosse Victoria as part of the 2019 Senior Men’s Team that will compete at the 2019 ALA Senior Men’s & Women’s National Championships hosted by Footscray Lacrosse Club.

Nick Burgess

Nick is the epitome of a modern day defender.  Nick never gives his opponent space and quickly shuts down attacking moves.  Nick is always back to support other defenders whenever necessary.  He has great ground ball skills and is a leader among the defensive group at Altona.  Nick was named in the Under 18 All Stars team in 2017 and in 2019 has been named in the U23 Australian side and Senior Victorian side.  Nick is also a great clubman who coaches our Under 17 team where improvements in defense are already evident.  With all Nick’s achievements and maturity, it is easy to forget he is still only 19 and one of the future stars for Altona and for Australia in lacrosse.

Campbell Mackinnon

Campbell is arguably the best player in Australia at the moment.  A rare talent who uses lightning speed, amazing agility, great stickwork and shooting power to score goals almost at will.  He cannot be beaten one on one by anyone and as a result he regularly draws a second defender to try to stop him.  When not shooting goals, Campbell is also a great short stick defender and is rarely beaten on ground balls.  As a player he is the total package.  He has been in the last two senior Victorian sides and seems destined to be in a senior Australian side in the near future.  Already a leader at Altona, at only 24, he will be the player to lead our exciting group of youngsters to the next level of our club’s development on the field.
