Rod Maher and Gabe Bleed honoured at Lacrosse Victoria Presentation Night.

Congratulations to our 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐋𝐕 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐔𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 recipient – Altona Lacrosse Club’s Rod Maher.

The Shappere Urn is presented each year to the individual who has made the greatest contribution to the growth of lacrosse in Victoria.

Rod earned this accolade in recognition of his contribution to Victoria Box Lacrosse, and his efforts to grow participation from 45 in 2021 to having over 300 registered this year including the first ever women’s competition. Anyone who knows how hard Rod works for the sport realises how much he deserves this reward.

Gabe Bleed was recognised for an outstanding season in seniors. Before forcing his was into State League in the latter half of the season, the Altona Under 18 star had accumulated enough votes to win the Best and Fairest in the Men’s Championship Reserves Competition. As a young midfielder, Gabe has really matured this year and has a very bright future in the years ahead.

Special mention to Campbell Mackinnon and Mitchell Kukucka who were also in the top five for Best and Fairest awards in the Championship League Competiton and Under 18s Competition respectively.
